Love Story - Jennifer Echols I’m a complete sucker for those stories where an ex boyfriend/friend turns up unexpectedly into the protagonist’s life. For some reason or another the ex and the protagonist can’t stand each other anymore. You can kind of guess how these kind of stories typically end with the guy and girl getting together. But you still can’t stop reading as you want to know how this love/hate relationship will unfold. This is the sort of theme which Love story followed. Hunter turns up unexpectedly to Erin’s class one day informing the teacher that he needs to switch to Erin’s creative writing class. At this point we don’t really know the history between Erin and Hunter, but that Erin is totally against him joining her class as the story they will be discussing that day is about him. The rest of the story involves Erin and Hunter continually sniping at one another through their stories, trying to annoy or make the other person jealous and just denying the fact the other may have feelings for them. There were parts to Love Story which had me rolling my eyes, such as how blatantly obvious it was that Hunter and Erin liked each other and how long it took them to get together. However there were also parts to the story which took me completely by surprise. I especially enjoyed learning the history between Erin and Hunter through their stories they wrote for their creative writing class. If you’re looking for a great read for the summer then make sure you pick up Love story!
