Chain Reaction (Perfect Chemistry Series #3)

Chain Reaction - Simone Elkeles 3.5 starsWhat I liked about Chain Reaction; The Fuentes family back together again where it all started. I enjoyed having Alex and Carlos in the story more, (especially Alex!) and finding out what they were upto and how things had progressed for them.Reading a pov from Luis, he wasn’t around much in Perfect Chemistry or Rules of Attraction, so it was interesting getting to know his character more in this bookThere were loads of funny moments, I loved the panty discuss competition, cute little Paco, the banter between the Fuentes brothers and Carlos he was just too funny!Reading about hot Mexican guys, do I need to say anymore? ;)What I didn’t like; The downside of having the story back in Fairfield felt like I was reading Perfect Chemistry again; Luis and Nikki coming from opposite sides, Luis from the south, poor gang affiliated side and Nikki from the rich side, with a decent upbringing and stable family. Luis and Nikki ending up in the same chemistry class and having the same teacher Alex and Brittany had; Mrs. Peterson. Luis constantly pushing Nikki away, unable to decide between which is more important his loyalty for the Latino blood or his loyalty and love for his family and Nikki. This really got to me, as I found the story quite predictable and I hate having that feeling when reading a book. I like a book to surprise me. Parts of the story I found quite corny and clichéd, like the epilogue and the end fight with Chuy and Nikki saving the day. Also the front cover of the book? I was disappointed that this was hardly in the book at all!Overall Chain reaction was one of my highly anticipated books of the year. I’m gutted for not enjoying it more, it was a good read, but for me not as good as Perfect Chemistry or Rules of Attraction.
